Nibela Lake Lodge, St Lucia Estuary

Secluded in the heart of a world-acclaimed conservation area guests can experience the spirit of previously inaccessible forested woodlands surrounded by a magnificent waterway. Lake St Lucia is South Africa's largest body of natural water boasting five different ecosystems, each one possessing a diversity of scenery, fauna and flora. The Lake forms part of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park- a World Heritage Site.

Situated in the heart of the Lake, on the tip of the Nibela Peninsula is the prestigious Nibela Lake Lodge. Access to the lodge is from False Bay Park shoreline where guests are met and transferred across the lake on a 20 minute boat ride.

Nibela Lake Lodge is unobtrusive and blends almost magically into the forest surrounds. 11 luxurious thatched lodges are situated high up in the cool forest beneath a magnificent canopy of trees where guests can enjoy the solitude and tranquility of Africa at its best.

Guests have the opportunity to spot the "Lake Big 6" which includes Crocodile, Hippo, Fish Eagle, Flamingos, Pelican and the Giant Heron on a 3 hour lake experience which sets out from Nibela Lake Lodge and heads towards a place known as "Dead Tree Bay" off Fanie's Island which is renowned for hippo viewing. 


A choice of 3 guided walks are available on the 235 hectare property which includes a small game walk, forest and bird walk or a shoreline walk where guests will be able to inspect the ancient remains of fossilised fauna and flora dating back millions of years.
