Edeni Game Lodge

Little Eden

Where the Drakensberg escarpment plunges to the ancient plains of the Lowveld, lies Edeni the Shangaan word for "Eden". Beneath a canopy of riverine forest on the banks of the Makhutswi River where it winds through the 21 000 acre Karongwe Game Reserve.

The lavishingly appointed suites are private with en suite facilities. The swimming pool overlooks a scenic flood plain equipped with spotlights for night viewing. 

Edeni Safari Lodge is a new 5 star lodge. The chalets are constructed out of indigenous hardwood, each with a private sun deck. The suites are placed along the river to ensure your ultimate privacy. Each suite is equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, ethnic designed decor, very romantic bathroom with slipper baths, the showers have hatches that can open with a stunning view of the Makhutswi river. Swimming pool, fully equipped bar in the open lapa, lounge, romantic dining room with fully equipped bar, game drives, etc. The rates are inclusive of accommodation, all meals, game drives, bush walks, tea and coffee. Bar/extras not included. 

Open 4 x 4 land cruisers with professional rangers and skilled trackers will ensure an exciting and informative game drive. Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra and other general game will give meaning to your bush experience. During the guided bushwalk, wildlife interpretations will give new meaning to creatures big and small.

To Get There : The closest airport is Hoedspruit (Eastgate airport). SA Express has daily flights between Johannesburg and Hoedspruit around midday. There is also an Avis depot, should you wish to hire a car from there. By road from Johannesburg would take approximately 4 to 5 hours on a very scenic route over the escarpment. 

Transfers from the airports to the lodge by a shuttle service can be arranged. 

Clothing and Accessories: Dress code is bushveld casual and lightweight, but a sweater may be required. During the winter, June, July and August warm clothes are necessary during early morning and at night. A hat, sunscreen, flashlight and binoculars will add pleasure to your stay.

Health: Precaution against malaria is necessary. 

Arrival and Departure Time: Any time from 12:00 as long as you can be at the lodge at 15:00. Please advise us of your expected time of arrival. Departure after breakfast or at least 12:00.

Climate: Winter: May to September are mild to pleasant during daytime. However, nights can be cold, warm clothing is recommended. Summer: October to April - is hot to very hot with occasional rainfall. Protection from the sun is necessary.
