Thornybush Game Reserve

Africa at its Best

Adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park lies 11 500 hectares of pristine African bushveld, which is the 'Thornybush Game Reserve'. With an abundance of bird and mammal species including the Big Five, it is also home to five exclusive lodges. Diverse accommodation caters for most guest needs from rustic understated comfort to luxury of the finest order. All lodges have sparkling swimming pools and offer exciting dawn and dusk safaris from open landrovers with fully qualified rangers and trackers, and bush walks for the more adventurous.

Main Lodge

Thornybush Game Reserve now boasts a new Main Lodge with stylish air-conditioned suites and extensive living areas over looking the seasonal Monwana River. From within the suites, each with full ensuite facilities, outdoor shower and private decks, sweeping vistas can be enjoyed over the savannah and ever-active water hole. Between exciting safaris take a moment to browse in the intimate library or simply relax at the pool with your favourite cocktail as you bask in Africa's glorious sunshine.

 

Chapunga

Authentically furnished in colonial splendour, handpicked pieces fill the lodge and its five air-conditioned en-suite rooms, enhancing the ambience and comforts typical of a bygone era. Enjoy scenic views from the vantage of our elevated deck with an active water hole well within your sights. Whether it is around the fire in the boma or from the classically appointed dining room, savour Chapungu's culinary delights. Jackalberry

The towering Drakensberg Mountains provide a majestic backdrop for this rustic camp. If you are looking for spectacular views, understated comfort and ethnic ambience that blends harmoniously with nature, Jackalberry is ideal. The bush around the lodge teems with game and more that 250 different species of birds can be seen, a paradise for birdwatchers. Relax by a crackling campfire after a hearty traditional bushveld dinner, and listen to the night sounds of Africa.

 

 

n'Kaya

Tastefully decorated in warm earthy tones and indigenous woods n'Kaya combines luxury with natural simplicity, the spacious double suites each with private lounges and twin ensuite facilities ensures optimal space for the discerning guest. n'Kaya pan, the camp's own waterhole within sight of the patio, attracts many species of game, as well as prolific bird life. After evening safaris, guests gather round the huge open-hearth fireplace and trade stories over brandy and hanepoort.

 

Serondella

Suspended wooden walkways link treetop hides to luxuriously appointed suites set along the meandering Monwana tributary. The lodge is flanked by two waterholes, here guests can enjoy an abundance of big game and birdlife from spectacular viewing decks.
